The Cradle Of The Cosmic Light

The cosmic sands of time are not, as you might think, never ending. After eons of running , they began to sputter and dry and the stars themselves were bled of their light. So it came to pass that I, the delegate of 1,000 galaxies, was sent in hope of reprisal to a holy place where the light is everlasting and even time itself might be replenished. Such a place, which has existed since beyond the beginning of time, has seen the brilliance of the birth of millions of suns and seen them flitter to nothing in no more than the blink of an eye, is no friend of the insignificant body of flesh I dared to present myself in.

The Elders had told that this place was the birth of everything, that all had come from its divine heart, but as I stepped into this mystical place, expecting to find a light so pure it might strip my soul from my body and laugh at my feeble requests for salvation, I found nothing but a shell of what might have once been. But hope endures, and I pushed relentlessly on, the fate of all the galaxies balanced upon my noble shoulders.

Though dusted valleys and deserts devoid of life and hope, my path seemed to wander aimlessly, though i could not have known a higher power was a work, guiding my steps to that which my belief still clung to. Suddenly, I came close to the heart of this mysterious planet, and my weeks of long hard trekking were forgotten as the inviting dakrness of a cave mouth yawned from the face of a towering dome of rock. The darkness swallowed me willingly, and I gladly followed it's path, the ground becoming pliable beneath my feet, every footfall finding softer and softer purchase.

From the belly of this beast there issued a sweet and melancholy song, a hollow echo of eternity full at once of longing and memory. As I drew closer to the sound, I became lost in its enchantment, those sorrowful notes so like the voices of the Whales as they filled the seas with their music.

The song led my soul deeper still into the labyrinth, folding my feeble flesh into its heart. When at last I reached it's very centre, the music drowning me, I beheld a wondrous sight. Graceful and beautifully eerie, the skeletal form of the Whale dominated the centre of this place I had been sent, to find salvation, to once again refill time's empty well. Staring upon this wonder, I was blinded by the brilliant arc of an eruption of the very cosmos itself, flaring up and out into the endless bounds of the universe, coating this planet in its blissful glow.

Ingrained in this play of light, the dancing vividness of beams and sparks, I heard the music of the planet begin to breath, its soft rhythym beating within me. A network of stars flickered beyond my outreached fingertips, each one resplendent in its own glory as the cosmos passed over it.

Whether the Elders had truly known of our salvation or not will never be known, nor will I know if my presence there sparked that brilliant eruption that awakened the ground beneath my feet and filled me with the wonder of its life, but my eyes beheld then what no others would ever see - that which I had been sent to find. For the sands of time had indeed been refilled. The cycle of the cosmos turned once more in this cradle of light.


the symbolism: water, the element of life itself. the cave, inside mother nature as the bearing godess. the (technical elements mixed up) whaleskeleton: proofs of ancient intelligence, unknown if made for any purpose or just a place of worshipping the source of the light. Light, the element wich makes life possible and essence for all visual art.

even thought this is an old work of me (January2004), it's a nice start to post my 3d works as well, I'm normally not doing large environments that often, cuz i enjoy creating characters, and do whats rewquired to illustrate the characters world he's/she's in... hope you like it.
